Exam style magazine question

L/O: to write and structure an effective exam style answer

-The two colours represent gender very differently.

Cosmopolitan represents Tom Daley in an anti-stereotypical way. For example , he has been dressed in   a more feminine clothing both in clothing and style. However , as a gay man, this is more stereotypical. On the other hand , there are more stereotypically masculine representations with the tattoo and the muscular physique.

In the GQ magazine cover they stereotypically represent Rihanna as feminine in a males magazine cover. For example she is not wearing any clothes which tells us that she is being sexually objectified in this magazine cover. Another interesting thing is she is being portrayed as medusa who is ugly. This connotes that she is   She has also got a tattoo which could be more rebellious.

The differences of these magazines are the way they are dressed and represented. For example, one is fully clothed and the other is naked. Another is how Rihanna is represented in a very feminine way while Tom Daley not represented as a masculine way but more feminine, you can see this when hes wearing pink trousers which is normally a more feminine colour. You can also see that Tom Daley is more bright and passionate with the colour palate they use to show the feminine side  while the Rihanna  is plain and bold as you can tell in the magazine when the use plain colours which could show it is more masculine The similarities between these magazines are representing different genders and how they represent the people on the different magazine covers.

this magazine is aimed for fashion for middle to upper class men. it uses a smooth layout which makes it look neat and bold. This magazine is more masculine because you can see the picture is a male. And you can see its probably about style since next to the masthead there is a serif font saying style. The background looks plain and smooth which is more of a masculine colour palate

Exam Question
Explore how this front cover of GQ magazine uses media language to communicate meanings:
Raheem Sterling (Rs)
 -images
-text/written language
-layout design

Rs has black wings which could mean RS might be a angel but then angels have white wings. This can connote to black lives and how he guards them. There is further proof because the front cover says 'guardian angel'. Another way they use media language is RS pose which is quite a masculine pose and this makes him look strong and how the camera is angled toward his legs so it looks like we are looking down at him hes also not wearing a shirt so he could be showing off his physique. RS is also wearing a lot of accessories which shows that he is wealthy. Another thing you could see he is also showing of his tattoos which could connote to being rebellious. 25mins  it is a low angle shot which can show he is looking down at us
The cover line Speak no evil could link to racist comments on RS and other black people. The Guardian angel(main cover line) is in gold which makes it stand out more on how he might try to show how he is protecting other black people from the media.

The layout they use is in a Z shape since you read from right to left while going down

similarities:

differences:

different views

The magazine covers are both similar in representation but constructed in a different view.

in similarities you can see how the gender is represented. In the Elle magazine she is represented in a very feminine clothing style with he white dress and some of the pink font colour. Her skin is also showing a lot In the Vogue magazine Malala is also represented in a Feminine way  where she is also wearing a dress but not that revealing.

Another similarity in the magazine covers is the Confidence power and passion but there are shown in different ways which is a difference. you can see this in the shot angels and how it affects it.
In Malalas mag cover you can see how it is overall red which can connote is passion and power and the shot angle is medium close up and she is facing right at us. Kims magazine has the word confidence in a bright bold font colour. The stance she is also in can show her confidence and power.

There is another similarity in the magazines are the mastheads and the cover lines
you can see Malalas talks about fighting  but on Kims magazine you can see how it talks about confidence in life. In

A difference is the colour palate and how it affects the magazine cover
In Malalas cover the overall theme is red which shows passion and confidence in what she does.
The word Malala is a bold white font colour which overpowers the dark red used in everything else. In Kims magazine
